YING YANG TWINS Feat. PITBULL "Shake" (TVT)

X-Press 2 get their hands on a hip-hop song and don’t delude us in any way.

RHP “Freakin Me” (CR2)

This English label makes a return to the more vocal and melodic house. Maybe it is slightly too fast for my tastes but if you slow it down to the right point it is a track that has a great impact on the floor.

DEPECHE MODE "Suffer Well" (white)

Another song by Depeche Mode to fall in love with from the last album.

REEL PEOPLE “In The Sun (DJ Spen remix)” (DEFECTED)

A connoisseurs tip for Miami. The next single from West London’s finest funksters is a bullet. DJ Spen and Osunlade are on remix duties but Spen takes the plaudits with a mix that has soul and vibe but is capable of holding the floor peak time. The drums rock, the bassline is so phat and grooves so deeply that you not only hear it but you can feel it. All this underneath a great song with that special Reel People vibe.

PEVIN EVERETT “Stuck” (SOUL HEAVEN)

This is the first single from the new Soul Heaven singles imprint. I first heard Kenny Dope play this in Pacha Ibiza in September and it has been a big favourite of mine since then. The groove is deep and bass driven, the song is soulful, Prince-like and infectious whilst it gets maximum points on the funkometer!!! Remixes are by Phil Asher, Groove Assassins and Karizma so I am sure that you have an idea of the quality of this release.

MUTHERFUNKERZ Feat. MARK EVANS “The Way You Love Me (Dimitri From Paris remix)” (DEFECTED)

Close your eyes when you get a chance to hear this, imagine that you are back in the glory days of disco…. it will not be hard because this record will take you there. Ron Hall and DJ Spen nailed the vocal, it could easily be a Teddy Pendergrass classic such is the soulfulness of its delivery. However, Dimitri takes it to a higher level in the disco stratosphere! He commissioned Vincent Montana Junior to score a whole new string section and play vibes, the results are amazing!!!

BIOGROUND “Cinnamon (The Dons remix)” (SONNTAG)

A great remix by The Dons boys on this German label. The track starts with minimal beats and then develops into an almost Holden-esque piece of music with great melodies and a distinctive feel. One for the deeper dancefloors out there....

SLEEPER THIEF “Freeride e.p.” (SIXTYFOUR)

This is the fruit of a collaboration with the very talented (and the very good looking) Miss Jools... The title track has great melodies and start-stop arrangement that makes it a really interesting late night weapon for the more discerning DJ's out there. On the other side, “Freefall” has an almost trancey (in a good way) feel and very haunting melodies combined with a minimal-ish arrangement. Definitely a step away from the most conventional releases out there...

PIG AND DAN “Retox” (COCOON)

Trying to describe this track is really hard work, believe us... it starts off in one way, goes off on a tangent and ends like no other track around at the moment! A very effective weapon... go and search!!
